The original seed press sits in the cabinet room of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello estate. It was crafted in the Monticello Joinery circa 1809, with nails from the estate’s nailery. Jefferson used the press to store garden seeds. The press is yellow pine and features mahogany shelving with a double scratch bead. The piece features hand cut nails, pinned tenons, a working brass lockset, a diamond-shaped keyhole escutcheon, and Monticello joinery on the two panels doors.
