The mahogany pencil post canopy bed features tiger maple flame finials and pillowed blocks. It has a hand bent curved tester or canopy instead of the more common straight flat design. This variation was inspired by a New England pencil post bed in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (ca. 1780-1820) catalog number #1953-102.
The canopy is supported by four, solid mahogany, octagonal pencil posts gently tapered at the end with hand-carved decorative lamb's tongue details to compliment the figured maple pillow blocks which are set off with quarter-inch ebony inlay. The bed features mortise and tenon rails for added support and strength together with bolts housed beneath traditional bed bolt covers supplied by Horton Brass. We finished this solid mahogany bed in lacquer to highlight the wood's natural warmth.
Dimensions: (Twin) 45.25" wide x 80" long—85.25" to the top of the arch, 81.75" to the top of the finials.
As every piece we craft is made to order, this bed is also available in different woods or painted color options, call to order. Prices will vary depending on bed size.
